About Mumbai-
Mumbai is formaly known as "Bombay", name given by the British Government. Mumbai is derived from the name for the hindu goddess "Mumbadevi". Mumbai is a group of seven islands in the Arabian Sea and a natural harbour on the west coast of India.
Mumbai is the capital of Maharashtra state in India. It is also called financial capital of India. Mumbai becomes the world's fifth most populous metropolitan area. Mumbai is the commercial and entertainment center of the India. Some mumbaikar call themself as Mumbaikar. Many residents live near to the railway stations for the easy access for local trains.
There are mainly 3 lines of railways in Mumbai. Western line, Central line and Hobour line. Local trains are the majorly used for the trasportation. Famouse specialities of the mumbaikars are Dhan Sak, Khicheri, Bombli Batata Bhaji, Kamag Kakri, Solachi Kadhi, Min Vela Curry and the Wada Pav.
Cricket is the most famous game in the city. There are many worlds greatest cricket players comes from this city. Sachin Tendulkar, Dileep Vensalkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Zaheer kha, Ajit Agarkar, Sanjay Manjarekar, Sandeep Patil etc.. there are lot more.
City having the largest and the busiest airport handling Domestic and the International flights. India's largest stock exchange which ranks as the world's third largest exchange which is situated in mumbai. Here trading carries out billions of rupees everyday.
Desciption of mumbai is can not be complete without mentioning about the Bollywood the biggest film industry which churns out hundrads of block busters.
One of the most famous festival in mumbai is "Ganesh Festival". On the last of the festival, thousands of people gather at the "Chupati" for the Ganesh Immersion. Siddhivinayak Temple is the main attraction of the people.
